Your Most Important Vote

by Mike Litman

Sitting on the sidelines.

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.

Millions of people are doing this today. Millions.

I used to do this as well. For 7 years.

Let me share with you an idea today that if you CAPTURE can
radically, radically change your life. And fast. Very.

Back in 1998, I was 24 years old and I hosted a success radio
show. My radio show has 3 listeners, 2 of them were my
parents.

If you saw my website back then, here was the headline,
‘World’s
#1 Personal Development Radio Show’.

I didn’t say I had the most listeners, though I believed I
had the most valuable, life changing radio show on the air
today.

“Mike, interesting, why are you telling me this story today?”

Good question amigo.

I’m telling you this because this is one of many examples I
can give to you that is revealing a powerful success
principle.

One more for today.

Was famous boxer Mohammed Ali telling everyone he was the
‘Greatest’ before he became the best in the world?

Yes, he was.

Too many people today are waiting for someone to tap them on
the shoulder and say, “You’re ready to leave the sidelines
and enter the game. Your time is now.”

In my experience, the game of success doesn’t work that way.

Here’s how it works.

***You have to VOTE YOURSELF IN.

Yes, YOU have to vote yourself in.

You have to stand up, leave the sidelines and enter the
playing field.

Start branding yourself.

Start writing your own newsletter.

Do a talk at your local library.

Start a website.

Whatever the next step is for you, here’s what’s important.

DECIDE to vote yourself in.

From politicians, to entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, and
all the names you know all voted themselves in.

Are you ready to do the same?

Love Ya! You’re The Best!

Your Coach,

Michael

P.S. One of my early mentors said this, “Nothing great has
ever been achieved without stretching yourself.”

Hey Mike!

GREAT TIP today my friend!

Hey Mike I really want to take some time to acknowledge you and THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all that you have done for me.

From “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going” to “People form habits and habits form futures” and “The Greatness Nation Podcast” to “Million Dollar Words”, you my friend have been an integral part to my success!

Within 6 months, I’ve gone from unknown 19 year old kid to a recognized expert in the field of The Law of Attraction and guess what Mike!

I have just launched my Inspired Action Coaching Program 3 days ago and I’m close to selling out!!!

Why?

Because like you said, I voted myself in!

Guys, go out there and just do it!

Nobody’s going to come up to you and say “I allow you to be successful”.

You’re great as you are!

I love you, Mike!

Mike,
I am ready to brand myself. I voted myself in yesterday. I am ready for greatness. Show me the way and I will follow.

Dave Fremantle June 30, 2008 at 11:55 am

I “voted myself in” at the age of 51. My wife had been mentally ill for 21 years at that point, and I had been trying to balance my career and the family’s needs. It left little time for anything else and I had been very conservative in making commitments. At 51 I took–and passed–the Uniform CPA Exam. I came in Third among all Washington State Candidates. Two years ago my wife died, and this year (after her estate had been wound up) I ran–and won–a seat on the Board of Directors of the 25,000 member timeshare my son and I belong to. To succeed you have to take a chance–then work like hell to make it succeed.

Mike,

Great post.

If you can’t see YOURSELF in the position you desire, what makes anyone think that anyone else can see them in that position.

If the confidence is lacking, there can be little or no forward advancement.

You’ve got to BE, before you can DO, and You Have DO before you can HAVE!

Keep up the great work, Brother!

Great advice Michael.

I’ve personally taken this plunge recently and already I’m seeing results. Of course, it feels like I’m out on a limb but I feel I have a safety harness attached – that being your wise words.

My advice to everybody – go out on a limb today – and it doesn’t have to be at the veryt top of the tree! Vote yourselves in.

Thanks again, Mike.

And even if I’m shattered after a long day, you can make me smile.

Thankyou

Great letter Mike, you have captured in less than 1 page what many authors take a whole chapter to explain.

Hey Mike!

You are so right! I love the saying “everything you want it right outside your comfort zone!” If you want to get something different, you need to do something different!

Great motivating post Mike… it’s important to count yourself in whatever life experience you can. Each one of us has gifts that everyone else can benefit from … but we have to get involved. Become a participant rather than an observer.

Very true indeed. Most of us wait, until we “make it big time”, to “value” ourselves.

Good advice. Thank you.

I am one of those millions waiting, waiting, waiting.
I don’t want to be. But I’m not sure what the next step is.
I believe we have to be brave and step out there but knowing where and how is another story.

You’ve done it again – I love this post and it rang home with a cartoon I drew a few years ago.

Hi Mike,
I have left the sidelines! Starting out I only used my duplicated website, but I am now moving forward.
I have built a few web pages and a web site. I am now building a squidoo lens, I have more recently begin networking in the field (offline).
The web page I submitted to you here is one of my first and it was free!
Anyway, thanks for all your advice.

Yogi Berra said, “When you reach the fork in the road, take it.” It’s not the road, it’s your mind that makes the experience what it is. It’s just a road. But, then, how can one put themselves ‘on the road’? By voting themselves in.

Thank you very much.

So true, Mike!

I launched an online radio station (music oriented) last fall with the byline “World’s biggest online radio station (that broadcasts from our block)”. Tongue in cheek but it got the ‘thought’ out there.

We started in September by catering to the local Vancouver market and nine months later are now in 22 countries with an audience growing by double digits monthly.

Cheers,

Mike, I can’t find words to express my feelings and gratitude toward you, just let me tell you that my whole being, my heart, deep within rejoice for your help and for remembering all of us who receive your newsletter, I speak Spanish, from Mexicali, B.C., Mexico, some time I don’t find the right words to express my self, but I love you too, my young brother.

Bill Baumgartner July 2, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Mike,

Great insight. It always helps me when you include valuable examples from your early business struggles.

So what I hear you saying is:
You are leveraging your ‘not-yet self’ (the self you desire to be), in order to create your ‘not-yet result’ (the business you desire to build.

I that way I can create instant credibility for myself and my business.

This would definitely accelerate my success.

I will start ‘voting myself in,’ in order to enhance my business positioning.

Thank you again for your selfless gift
of sharing.

The longest, or even shortest journey starts with the first step.

You, Mike, have inspired me to take that first step; to take the first bite of that elusive elephant so that I can devour him completely- THANKS!

Hello Mike,

I, too, live in New York. I hope to meet you
at a workshop here. I read “Conversations With
Millionaires” and it helped me to further look
for those ‘goggles’….more importantly, it shifted
my thinking in a manner that helped me stay focused
on my goals. Here is a little bit of what I’ve
been able to accomplish as you are among some of
the inspiring teachers whose paths has crossed mine.

How could i resist contributing to this blog.I have been on the sidelines for too long.I am now in my mid 30′s with a lot of nothing to show for my investment in self doubt.I am now willing to vote myself in.

I am happily banishing mediocrity from my life! I am in a job I love, and taking further education to advance in it; I have tackled my obesity issue and lost 28lbs in 9 weeks (am no longer classed as obese) and planning to move house with my fiance to an area we love, and then get married after the moving costs have been covered.

one happy bunny here, who just a few months ago was feeling full of despair and dispondancy!

To everyone, take charge of your life, if I can, you can too!

xx
