The room couldn't believe it last night.
"Mike, they couldn't believe what?"
Last night, I spoke at the 'Learning Annex' in New York
City, the Learning Annex puts on seminars in a few big
cities around the country.
Here's what people couldn't believe.
Two things.
First, they couldn't believe that my #1 best-selling book
'Conversations with Millionaires' wasn't proofread for the
first 6 months it was sold.
"Mike, why wasn't it proofread?" Because I had no money and
I had to just get it going.
Second, the audience couldn't believe that when I first did
my success radio show in 1998 (I paid $75 for 30 minutes
of air time each week), I only had 3 listeners to my show.
My parents and one 'real' listener.
These radio shows no one ever heard three years later
turned into the conversations featured in my #1
best-selling book 'Conversations with Millionaires'.
I wasn't going to wait and start my radio show when
everything was perfect.
No.
I got it going. I got it going.
The audience last night couldn't believe it.
Most of them had never heard me speak before.
The idea of 'You don't have to get it right, you just had
to get it going' was new to them. Brand new.
Though, after I said it 2x there was a 'Eureka' moment in
the room.
They got it.
The light bulb went on.
I said "I don't have to get it right..."
In unison, out loud they said, "I just have to get it
going."
They got it.
What a night it was.
Powerful.
18 people approached me after the event and they all said,
"Mike, thanks, I'm going to get it going starting
tomorrow."
We are powerful, more powerful than we know. Much.
What we don't use, (gifts, talents, abilities) we lose. Use
it or lose it.
Get it going.
Publish your book.
Upload your website.
Post an article.
Make your prospecting calls.
Make an offer on the real estate property.
Get it going.
One of my early mentors said to me "Mike, nothing great has
ever been achieved without stretching yourself."
Amigo, stretch yourself today. Get it going.
Ask yourself: What is one thing I don't want to do today,
but if I did it, would move my life/business forward?
Get it going.

I have done certain things that have been amazing in my life. I am sure most of us have done something in our life that has amazed us later... I got going by bungy jumping off the highest commercial bridge in the world and what a thrill it was. There are so many things that we have all done and probably didn't even realise that we just did it by a Get Going attitude. Yes, it is about taking that first step to move forward and without hesitation. Just do it - whatever the outcome - it's the experience that counts. One step can lead to so many opportunities...

I wanted to quit my job last October, but I didn't because I wanted to pay down my debts first. I finally took the leap and next week is my last week at the "job." Although it is scary, it feels great to finally REALLY GET IT GOING. I have been trying to work on my home business for a year, and my biggest problem has been having enough time.
The hardest part - I turned 50 years young last year. It is much harder to make a drastic change and make a leap of faith when you are older. So young folks - go for your dreams now, because it takes a lot more courage as you age and have more responsibilities.

Mike there was an experiment done one time with clay pots.
They told one group that each person in the group had three days to make the one perfect clay pot and would be graded on how perfect his/her pot was.
They told the other group they should make as many clay pots as possible and would be graded on how many pots they made.
Well...you guessed it. The group that made the most clay pots came far closer to "perfection" than the ones that "dithered" trying to focus on that one perfect pot.
And when it comes to writing, I've always found it's best to just hammer away like crazy, because you can always take out the garbage later, but you've come up with those excess words first... right?

Your story is just what I needed to hear. I've been feeling uneasy lately. So, I have been asking myself, over the past several days, what it is that I am resisting in my life that is keeping me immobilized to do nothing. The LOA provided the answer through your email today. Thank God!
I am reminded of dating in high school. Some guys are so concerned about doing things right to impress their date that they focus on what not to do wrong instead of consciously being in the present moment. "Just get it going!" That would have been great advise back then. I'm not talking about running the bases either. I'm talking about being happy and enjoying life. But dating isn't why I'm writing today.
I've been waiting for everything to be right and perfect before I make my move in taking action to create the things in life that I'm most passionate about. Now, while I've been waiting, nothing has been getting done. Well Duh! But here is the meat of why I'm writing to thank you. Everytime that I ask the question, "What is it that I'm resisting?" I have always received an answer! Always!!! God works through people to bless us all with grace. It's that "We are all connected" universal law and truth at work in our lives.
So, thank you for allowing yourself to be open to the grace of inspiring me and others with your passion to be "Inspiration!"
Your messages are too valuable not to send to all of us. At least, I know I some times need a little assistance to get it going. Not having to pay some one $2000 or more dollars to coach me to what I need to hear is always the sweetest and most inspiring. "I don't have to get it right." "I just have to get it going!"

I will finish the book I've been working on, and I will open the christian high school I've carried the vision of for 15 years. And you will be among the first to be informed when each is accomplished. Keep the encouragement coming. I NEED THEM!
I agree with you about 95%. I think more people should take action. Period. You can over analyze a situation until it becomes inaction. You will learn and grow as you go. STARTING is the hardest part. The 5% of me that doesn't quite agree with you is simply that you have to have put your best foot forward and not do a crappy job. If you can say you've done the best with what you've had to work with, then put it out there. At the same time, it doesn't have to be perfect. I just listened to Earl Nightengale's tape Lead The Field right before I went to your blog. Earl's message is timeless. I've listened to the tape many times over the years and it still inspires me. Your message that you share with individuals is the same. It is inspirational and timeless.

I've been listening to you for a couple of years now and that saying you have "You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going" is probably the most powerful one I've heard. I'm probably the worse procrastinator out there but when I decide to "get it going" amazing things happen. Last night I was up until about 3am putting ads and setting up profiles online to get my business out there so that people can see the amazing products and business that I have to offer. If I had just gone to bed earlier like I usually do then my business would have been exactly at the same place when I woke up as when I wen to bed, but because I did some online marketing and put myself and business out there I've started getting some hits to my website and things are moving forward.
There's another great saying I've heard many times "If you continue to do what you've always done, you'll continue to get what you've always gotten".
Basically what they're saying is "Get off your LAZY BUTT and do something!"

People cannot help but be inspired by you Michael! As for sharing stories... I think the more we hear inspirational stories, the more we hear how people step out of their comfort zone and just get on and do, we can then get to the understanding that maybe we can do it as well!
What you were saying to the audience last night I think is similar to the thought of living each day as if it was your last! Who cares if you get it wrong... but everyone cares when you become involved and take action!

A brilliant blog post today. I have heard the 'get it going message' from you before and agree with you but the examples from your own life made it extra powerful.
One example from my own life was back in April 1990 when
I started my martial arts school in Kent. Only one student arrived on the opening night and he was wanted for 'causing grievous bodily harm' GBH in the UK. He turned out to be a really nice character and the school is still going strong 18 years later.

I had to smile, my book "The Elixir of Youth" Secrets of a Spring Chicken-self-published was printed without proof reading. I had to get it going, under the gun to present a book review re: "The Elixir"...and after reviewing, not too many corrections. I choose spiral as opposed to bound cover, this way I can easily delete a page and add.

Mike it exciting to know that once we get started it is hard to stop. I also am a writer a poet and I must say a good speaker as well. I preach and teach my poems are spiritually written. Sometimes we need to get it right at first sometimes it takes a little push. But not giving up takes courage and determination. You know Mike with the power you have to change the minds of those who seem to be stuck or lookin for answers to take action on what will only improve their life. Why don't you test yourself, and go in a totaly different direction of helping others to reach out and take the action (wisdom) they need so they can get where is they want to be in life. I have been reading your posts, the responce your getting is more powerful than what your writing. Your great and wise no doubt, but do you really know what everyone is saying between the lines? Why don't you go for a goal that ( using time limits) shows once and for all the power of wisdom. The action part of knowing something. Ture wisdom, seeing and feeling the results of your words. How many words of power, would you think are written,read, or thought about in a day. Gravity is the same for all good, and bad. These new thoughts (chemical light patterns) you create in people who where not exposed to this type of thinking before is alive in these posts. The next step must be taken by men of power such as yourself, and that is the step of seeing the wisdom of your works, in these looking human minds. This is the thing and the thing is this when you teach someone, this way of thinking, or sell someone on a idea, you get it again, only deeper and deeper. Just like a coach or teacher that repeats the same course. They get it again.
So how do we get to that point, the new thinkers of belief have to give these ideas to someone else with conviction. They will know that they know they know when they take the action to get where they think they need to be. It's so easy, once you take the step forward. Adjust for unforseen setbacks and move on. I know this for sure everyone, I mean everyone will be tested with something so important in this life the only way to survive it will be to use the brain chemicals you have built up with this kind of thinking---NOW---while you have the chance. Anything can happen anytime, without notice just bam its there. To those of you about to rock (your brain) Use this new power everyday, every lucky day you have a chance to get where you want to be.
