They chase. And chase. And chase.
"Mike, what happens next?
Good question amigo.
What happens next is 5-15 years suddenly pass by.
What happens next is 5-15 years pass by and the results they
have show little to no real improvement. Maybe a little.
I see this every day when I meet and talk to good natured,
great people who just aren't getting the results they desire.
Stop thinking the 'grass is always greener'.
Stop chasing the latest, greatest online gimmick.
Stop chasing Guru #12, then Guru #25, then Guru #79.
Stop being like I was for so long, an IMMATURE entrepreneur
(maybe this isn't you, but it is many people today.)
News Flash:
START chasing your GREATEST self.
START raising your VALUE each hour.
Start believing you're THE EXPERT.
Start believing YOU have what it takes.
Orison Swett Marden, the 1st editor of Success Magazine (late
1800's) said this:
{Grab Orison's book, 'Prosperity' and 'Making Life a
Masterpiece' (Amazon.com)}
"The greatest thing in life is not to make money but to raise
ourselves to our highest power, to call out the hidden
beauties of our nature, and to make ourselves attractive and
helpful instead of repellent and unsympathetic."
Obviously making money is important, though what PRECEDES
that is you making the MOST out of yourself.
One more point.
***The biggest reason people fail is BROKEN FOCUS. (Read this
again)
It's like today people forgot what the word FOCUS means. For
years, I forgot also.
A scattered focus leads to a scattered mind.
A disorderly environment leads to a chaotic business.
Get organized NOW, get focused NOW.
Find ONE BUSINESS and build it.
How can a new entrepreneur look to build more than 1 business
at a time, I have no clue.
Our greatest self lives within us.
We need to DUSTBUSTER the dirt we've picked up over the years
and create a focused, orderly environment that will PUSH US
onwards to victory.
Victory.
It's yours for the taking.
Love Ya! You're The Best!
Your Coach,
Mike

Great post Mike:
I agree completely. Focus, the more laser like the better, is key to reaching your goals and succeeding in your life and career. I have relearned this lesson several times over the years, most recently a few months ago, in a conversation with you. I move into 2009 with a renewed sense of focus. I know it will be my best year yet.
All the best,

Hey Mike,
Great post... I really like what you said about the importance of FOCUS!
I think that many of us have "Entrepreneurial ADD" and we get off track so easy...
Great stuff...

Amen and amen to that!! Dr. Mike Murdock says the very same thing - the only reason men fail is broken focus. It is so easy to be pulled in ten different directions thinking, well, maybe this is better or that's the way to go. I just in the last few days finally got my health website up and running and will be getting the word out in the next week or so. The very advice you shared was critical as for quite a while I was pulled in too many directions - I'm a freelance writer and I'd get invites to write for different magazines but it had nothing to do with my business and for longer than I care to admit it broke my focus because I saw I could make a little money. Yeah, that's an issue, but in the longrun it didn't make that big a difference. Thanks for honing in on the root issue - as always.
That's was great. Simply great. Thanks for that.
Thanks, Mike! I am with you about a person needing to focus and being organized is very important. I have always said that the amount of chaos in my surroundings is a direct reflection of the amount of chaos I feel inside. I need an organized workspace so I can focus. Having said that, I have also had to make sure I do not get to much into getting everything in order that I don't do any income producing activity in my business! I guess that is what being a balanced person means!

Hi Mike,
You are right!
We are wasting to much time chasing gimmicks. In the end, only those who are truly giving content instead of hype will come out ahead. The same is true in all areas of life.
Thanks for the good advice!

I couldn't agree more!
I was reading Anthony Robbins this morning and highlighted this quote
"Controlled focus is like a laser beam that can cut through anything that seems to be stopping you."
Hey Friends,
Check out Jan's blog, great information...

Thank you Mike for your constant coaching - don't think that it is all going on deaf ears. Of all the motivational speakers and coaches, I can definitely say, your name has been mentioned the most in referrals.
You cut through the ...... and get right to the point. Direct, upfront, and effective(doable). Thanks for ALL Mike and Blessings Always!
Hi Mike,
You are absolutely right once again - focus is the key! As P.T. Barnum said
“A constant hammering on one nail will generally drive it home at last, so that it can be clinched. When a man's undivided attention is centred on one object, his mind will constantly be suggesting improvements of value, which would escape him if his brain was occupied by a dozen different subjects at once.â€

I just had my peach Snapple and I'm ready for today!! I think that you hit something right on the head, that could perhaps be a bigger problem. Just like a chronic gambler takes their last dime to gamble, borrows begs and steals to gamble. I have a friend who has been on a string of failed business ventures. Let's call her a "chronic entrepreneur". She takes every dime she has and invests in the latest and greatest plan. She recently got fired, and took her last $100 to try another scheme. She'll beg borrow or steal to get more money to try another venture.
Well said....Amen ! The challenge remains 'how do you focus when there are too many distractions'.....

You are right Mike that lack of Focus is what throws so many of us off track, some keep looking for something better and easier and lose track of where they were headed in the beginning then find themselves starting all over. Lack of focus effects your mental state as well as your productivity. We should never lose sight of the big picture and keep moving toward the dream!
thanks You are Awesome!

Hi Mike,
Your quote..."Our Greatest Self lives within us!" Eh, gads, it's taken me years to uncover MY GREATEST SELF.
Still uncovering. I don't know about you but there where times when I felt "Oh, whats the use." Then I get a thump on my and head and that Godly Voice says...
"Many are selected, you've been chosen." I understand clearly all my frustrations/challenges have led me to my LIFE'S MISSION...AND MY FOCUS. 'HELPING MEN, WOMEN LOCALLY, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. The message...
Life is to be enjoyed...to share with them IT'S NEVER TOO LATE AND YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO GO AFTER YOUR DREAM!
TOGETHER WE'LL FIND A NEW WAY OF LIVING...LOOK A NEW DAY HAS JUST BEGUN.
Love ya Mike

Mike,
You must have been reading my mind.
I had just finished adding a post to my own blog,
when I decided to check my email.
Wow!
A note from my favorite mentor, (Mike Litman).
Check out his latest post, "The Frusrated Entrepreneur."
As I read along, I couldn't believe it.
My exact feelings, mirrored back to me.
Check out my post, "Paint like Picasso."

Mike,
As always, when the student is ready, the teacher shall appear. This was exactly what I needed to hear.
Thank you. Gabrielle
I totally agree with Mike. I've been trying to run a few businesses at the same time now for over 2 years and they seem to have grown very little and it's frustrating. Stick with one and once it takes off, then move on to new ventures.
Mike
I think this piece is a masterpiece and can only come from people who has tasted such disorganizedly unyielding results life. I am touched, Iam consciuous, Iam FOCUSED
You hit the nail right on the head. To many times in the day there is to many distractions which pull us in all different directions. You need to filter out the unwanted distractions that don't pertain to the task at hand. Finish what you start and stay focussed, it's the best thing any entrepreneur cand and will ever do!
Yes, I'll admit it!! This is me, I'm all over this one! I have a home-based business that I've been on again, off again with for a few years now and I'm not getting ANYWHERE! And I have jumped onto the band wagons of many different gurus trying to figure out which one fits me the best. My focus now is to FOCUS and move forward instead of jumping from side to side to side to side.... Thanks Mike
