Say Goodbye To Mediocrity

by Mike Litman

“You weren’t born to be in this room tonight.”

I said this to the audience of 200 people at a talk I did 2
weeks ago.

There was a few seconds of silence.

Many people starting shaking their heads up and down,
signaling “You’re right.”

“Mike, why did you say this to the audience?”

Good question amigo.

Throughout the night, many individuals were sharing their
stories of financial struggle, being at jobs they couldn’t
stand, and having too many negative people around them.

You, I, WE…we weren’t born to be average.

We weren’t born to strive for mediocrity in life.

We weren’t born to spend our lives at jobs we can’t stand.

When I said to the audience, “You weren’t born to be in this
room tonight”, here’s what I was really saying.

You were born for GREATNESS.

You were born to accomplish.

You were born to have fun, be happy, serve others, and be
fulfilled.

You weren’t born to struggle unnecessarily.

Yes, I’m all for improving yourself and going to seminars.
I’ve been working on myself for years.

What I was getting across to them and now to you is this.

Make your move. Now.

Start letting go of the pains from your past that still hurt
you.

Start becoming your own cheerleader.

Start a part time business. Stay focused on it.

Start becoming more valuable to others. This precedes massive
success.

Start becoming an example to your kids of what’s possible in
life.

Start moving outside of your ‘comfortable’ circle of
influence and stretch yourself.

Start reducing the time you spend with negative people.

Start making other people feel more important and
appreciated.

Amigo, you and I both know this.

YOU have so much more you can offer, share, and accomplish.

Am I right, yes or yes?

Good. Get going.

Wave goodbye to the days of aiming for perfection.

You don’t have to get it right, YOU just have to get it
going.

Get going.

The world desperately needs you. It does.

The fastest way to change your own life is to help someone
else change theirs. First.

My friend, YOUR best days are ahead of you and they’re
excited to see you too.

Separate yourself from 97% of the world. “Mike, how?”

Simple.

Start. Get going. Stay focused.

Love Ya! You’re The Best!

Your Coach,

Michael

P.S. Stop scattering yourself. Stop trying to build 3
businesses at a time before you ever made one successful.

Focus is the key. Ask that guy called ‘Tiger’ if that’s
right.

Mike, I am now trying to establish a consultancy business and this blog could not have come at a better time. I will write down the words ‘Start. Get Going. Stay focused.’ I don’t want to be part of the 97 %.
Thanks much

Hi Mike this is so true I use a very similar wording in my workshops and with my clients at the clinic. Why be ordinary when you can be fantastic in all that you do.

Thanks Mike, always love your message!

“Gods gift to you is more talent and ability than you will ever use in one lifetime. Your gift to God is to develop as much of that talent and ability as you can in this lifetime.”

Hi Mike,

Another great and very relevant blog.

One of my questions for the start of each day is ‘How can add greater value?’ Looking for ways to enhance the lives of others can be a fun creative process and can be anything from sharing a great quote or website, through to giving someone the gift of time.

With that in mind, if there is anyway that I can be of service to you, just let me know!

Mike,
Being a business owner can often be a “solitary” experience. Your enthusiasm and encouragement is always very much appreciated!

I rank you as the best motivator and coach that I have come across – and I have come across more than a couple. Your words speak to the ordinary person who is trying to improve their life. I can’t tell you the number of times that I have quoted you and your saying “You don’t have to get it right…..” this one saying has helped me and so many people in my team move forward without fear of failure holding us back. My extreme gratitude to you Mike.

Yes, Yes and Yes to all that you say Mike. I am starting a new business as we listen to you, and this has helped me unsubscribe to many emails that I have been getting and didn’t really need, they have taken valuable time from my core biz.

Thank You Mike for your POSITIVE words.

Thank you for your encouragement. We all need it.
Take it or take it, yes or yes.

Mike,

“You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get going” … I quote you so often, to myself to get something moving and to others who seem to think that they have to “know it” before grappling with it. I like another one of your sayings too “Perfection is the enemy of progress” … I use that as part of my signature in my emails.

Thank you for all that you do.

That was a good Blog

Steven February 11, 2009 at 9:18 pm

Thanks for the insight Mike; as always you know how to get the message through…life is too short to settle…and too long to regret!

Peace,

Steven

Thank you Mike for your inspiration. The problem with getting started is that uncomfortable feeling of fear: our greatest enemy. I’m still struggling to juggle all the have to’s and should’s in my life. I know that strecthing myself and setting up a new program in my life is key.

Mike,
Another great post!
I have a ‘mediocrity’ cartoon that illustrates this perfectly. I hope you don’t mind me sharing this on my blog…

Mike, you are so right. It is sometimes hard to get that focus when we want to do so many things at once but without it, we flounder. I guess I need to pick from my growing list what I want to focus on and do it. Have fun, and do it!

Have a wonderful day!

Frank, Ghana February 12, 2009 at 3:49 am

Great! You are doing a great job Mike and I love it.
Keep it up.

Kathy Chapman February 12, 2009 at 8:40 am

Thanks, Mike!

Focus, focus, focus! I don’t know which I say more to myself, that or you don’t have to get it right, just get it going! Both of them are important. I have a home business that I partner with the master’s, such as Brian Tracy, John Gray, and Bill Bartmann and I love it because it is a business and also a personal growth library for entrepreneurs. I believe to be successful in life, you must work on your mindset, no matter what business you are doing. We must constantly grow and change, that will make us focus and will certainly help to got “get it going!”

This is a wonderful message! The commandment most spoken in the Bible is “Fear Not.” So Fear Not and get started!

Andrew February 12, 2009 at 11:42 am

Thanks for your great words of wisdom & support. I really like the fact when you said we were made “of” and “for” greatness. However, this greatness is released when we help others.

Holly February 12, 2009 at 1:14 pm
