Sit and breathe consciously 100 times, 50 X in through nose and out through mouth and 50X in and out through nose. Then continue into a 20-30 minute meditation, this will change the point of perception for your entire day. Now make your written plan for the day and do a little bit on each item even if it is only a nano step.

Mike!

My action steps in a moment…first, I must tell you that this is the single most important word for actors. As a director and acting instructor, in addition to being an actor myself, I always remind actors to focus on the ACTION they are playing, rather than “pretending” this thing or that thing.

The moment the actor stops playing a specific action, the acting becomes boring — usually because the actor will start to play an emotion, which never works.

Look at it this way… When you are angry at someone, and you are anticipating a confrontation, you don’t go into the room this person is in TO BE ANGRY at them. What you want to do is, perhaps, TO CONFRONT, or TO RESOLVE, or maybe TO CORNER…

So when the actor plays an emotion (like TO BE ANGRY), the acting is boring and dishonest. It’s not real because that’s not how we operate as human beings.

So I have found that in my business of coaching actors that I myself must have clear, specific ACTION STEPS every day to ensure that I am operating at my optimum level.

Your words of wisdom always seem to be timely, Mike. Thank you!

If you make a point of doing what you hate doing first thing before you do anything else, then the rest of the day is easy and more fun.

Get the worst out the way first thing and then enjoy the rest of the day!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the advice.

The action step that I am going to take in the next 24 hours is that I am going to go through all the people that had at one time taken a look at my business and get on the phone and just start calling them to see if maybe now is a better time in their lives to take a serious look at the business.

Thanks for all you do!

Hi Mike
Action is a power word :-)
One great action is to list six actions for the following day, prioritise them and then the next day take those actions and then give yourself a pat on the back for every one completed.

As you well know if you can/t think of six four will do you don/t have to get it perfect you just have to get it started.
best wishes
Vince

“An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.” –Arnold Glasow

If many could only SEE NOW the LOST accomplishments that died in the dark recesses of their minds because of lack of Action, no doubt they would step forward with unwavering passion.

Thanks Mike!

To succeed, we have to take the appropriate action. Otherwise, nothing will be happened.

The one thing I will do today is ask Michael, a director from work, if he can help me with my fundraising efforts for a charity in South Africa.

Thanks Mike, this is something I have been meaning to do for a while but have been a bit scared.

It’s time to step up to the plate.

Thanks again.

Making calls is the hardest thing for me. I will make a list tonight, and start my calls first thing in the morning. Before I even get dressed. Thanks Mike.

Thomas June 8, 2009 at 9:53 pm

I have been forcing myself to do that very thing for the last week and it feels great.
Thank you for confirming this for me.
Example is that I hung a blind in the front room today, that had been sitting around for about 2 months.
Now on to tomorrows tasks. BTW orginizing some papers that I had sitting around in a drawer tonight.
Keep up the Great work Mike, Thanks.

Mike…Thank you, thank you and thank you!!!
I am one who believes in the “Keep it Simple” or KISS theory, and YOU have always been great at boiling it down!
Today, I will finish all those things on my “To Do List”.
Simple. Profound.
