Maybe you're down. Maybe you're frustrated.
I've been there. We've all been there.
Maybe you've opened the door of your mind, way too wide, and
worry, fear, and doubt have entered your life.
Maybe you feel at times that these destroyers seem to be
overtaking your mind.
Not a good feeling.
Question.
Follow me here.
Ever see somebody who's ALMOST ALWAYS positive, hopeful, and
optimistic?
I have. Have you?
Sure, we've all seen a few.
Why?
That's the question, why are some people positive, hopeful,
successful, and optimistic and others are beat down
consistently with fear, doubt, strife, and worry.
Why?
Throughout the ages the answer to this question has been
shared, though few really 'hear' it.
That was me. It took me years to start to 'get it'.
Also, you already know the answer.
"Mike, you are wrong, I don't know the answer, if I did I'd
be doing better in life."
Amigo, hold on. Hold on.
Relax.
Push your chair in a bit. Good.
You do know the answer. You do.
Throughout the ages, those in the 'know' have been all
sharing this COMMON piece of advice to those who desire more.
***As a Person thinketh in his heart, so is he.
***Change your thoughts, change your life.
***We become what we think about.
Here's the challenge.
Many people have been given mental mud, starting from their
early days. Their mind has way too much strife and worry
jumping around.
Their inner critic attacks them.
It's been said, our mind is the battlefield of life.
We can't lead a positive life with negative thoughts.
Here's the question, you ready?
Will you commit to LIFTING your thoughts 1% today?
That's it. 1%.
Replace ONE negative thought with a positive one today.
Will you commit to becoming 1% more AWARE of negative
recurring thought patterns today?
That's it. 1%.
Replace ONE recurring negative thought with a positive one
today.
My friend, your BEST days are ahead of you. You can and WILL
experience greater joy, greater peace, greater riches, and
greater fulfillment.
Feel that -now-. See that -now-. Good, huh? (smile)
Love Ya! You're The Best! (You really are)
Your Coach,
Michael

Sometimes a story helps to make a point.
A man was walking home after drinking at the hotel and decided to take a shortcut through the cemetery. As he walked in the dark he stumbled and fell into freshly cut open grave.
He sat there and contemplated his sorry situation. After a few minutes he heard someone walk past. It was a doctor. The man cried, help me, help me. The doctor looked down, pulled out his pen and notepad, wrote a prescription and dropped into the grave and walked away.
Later the man heard another person walking. It was a priest. Again he called help me, help me. The priest thinking it was a lost spirit said a prayer and walked away.
By now the man was feeling low and lonely when he heard another person approach.
Again he cried out help me, help me. This time it was a friend who recognised the man. The man in the grave said Mike is that you? “Yes buddy it’s me, wait a second†and then Mike jumped into the grave.
The man shouted you idiot, now we are both in a hole. Upon which Mike replied, “Yes we are but I’ve been here before and I know the way out.â€
Morale of the story:
When things look grave, look up and rise above your challenges with the help of people who care, people who share and are people who are there for you.
Thanks, Mike! I did "know" this but had been too wrapped up in getting everything done perfectly and today that I had thrown this jewel out the window! Thank you so much for sending it today - it was perfect - I even sent it to my daughter who is in college and already struggling with the same overwhelming load that is dragging her down. Huge gift!

Hi Michael
You always seem to pop up when I need you most! Its been a tough couple of months but you are so right that thoughts create our "Challenges", I try very hard to be aware of my thoughts but sometimes the old patterns are just too comfortable.
Your idea of 1% a day is great and I shall be focusing on this to fill in that missing link that sometimes seems so elusive.
Thanks, keep up the good work. (If you ever decide to do any talks in the UK I'd be interested in knowing more...

Just Awesome Mike! We must be positive to create the life of our dreams. So many people have done it. Why can't the rest of us? I know I'm on the journey to realizing my dreams. I know its going to come and I'm sure the wait is worth it.
So true.
So do.
So sweet the change.
as always, just what I needed to hear.
Mike,
Right on the money!
I just listened to Jim Rohn's DVD this morning and he said our goal in life is to make "MEASURABLE" progress in "REASONABLE" time!

thoughts ARE powerful things.
I have been working steadily with this principle for the past year.
It feels like a breath of fresh air in my mind.
As positive thoughts replace the negative ones.
It frees up so much of one's mind that....
...creativity
...peace
...and joy
CAN flow through!
Change, is an individual attitude when one waken up in the morning and find that yesterday is no longer in the future but today is bringing more of tomorrow in to play. Before I go to bed at night I take a few minutes or however long it takes to think over my today before tomorrow comes. I look at what was good vs what was bad and remind myself not to be overcomed but to be an overcomer.
Great info Mike ... as always!
It's really tough work banishing those old negative thoughts playing through your brain! I found that even when I tried think positive thoughts, this little voice kept up in the background saying ... 'Yeah, but ...'
I've recently been working with some energy techniques involving accupuncture points (no needles!) that have proved very helpful at eliminating some long held negative beliefs. I still have a lot of work to do, but between that and your coaching I'm make progress!
For anyone else that is 'stuck' this is worth checking out. You can do it yourself and it's free! http://www.emofree.com and http://www.tatlife.com .
You're the best Mike! Keep up the good work!
Hey Mike,Thanks. I have really liked your comments in recent weeks. You are right we all have that "mental mudd" as you say. Right now I am listening to The Magic of Believing. I think the little things do add up.

Hey Mike, Here's to slaying our inner critics and making friends with the monsters under the bed! When I get lured into the lair of negativity, I've learned to ask for help from the people who know and love me the most. We all have our down days... Asking for support from my coaches and cheerleaders has made a big difference in reducing the count. In Balance and Light ...
Hi Mike,
You inspire me always and always make me smile with your sign-off.
Love ya, you're the best, too

What you said Mike..."By the mile Life's a Trial Mile...By the Inch Life's a cinch". I you're definitely...and the operative part is "thinketh/believeth IN HIS HEART" As you know...if you don't believe you are deserving, it's a hard row to hoe
Lee
Dear Mike.
As always you outdid yoursef, this little nuggets of wisdom help to keep the hope up.
Positive thoughts are more fun to contemplate. Even at home a smile and a happy thought makes the day go faster. A little work also swells the heart and makes the day a little faster and less time to be alone or lonely. Progress makes the heart grow happier.
Thanks for all the help and encouragement you pass to us. We appreciate it very much!!!
Your way of teaching is simple and great.
I know what it means when you say change your thinking. For last couple of years i have been working on my emotions and my thinking. and believe me it really works. When we change our thinking we really change our life. It has helped me, it will helped others too.
ur way is so simple and nice
How motivational and inspirational you are, Mike! You are just there on time to motivate and inspire our souls.Keep it up!
Dear Mike and his fans,
My wife marvels at my good moods and the ability to not let failures stay long in my mind. Why not be grateful at the miracle and beauty of it all and have faith that things will always improve (or at least signal when you are on the wrong path.)
Our only other choice is to wallow in our mental misery, or the pity party of one. Why bother with the effort of all that negative thought? Learn your lessons and move on.
I loved that story about the guy in the grave--THANKS, KIM. I'm gonna use that one again, if that's ok.
I also enjoy how Mike uses those conversational pauses to make sure our thoughts are not jumping ahead to prior teachings that have not served us well. For example...
Follow me here.
Get ready to listen.
Are you ready?
Are you with me on this?
Good.
Can you see how well that works?
Good. Thanks for the emails and blogs, Mike.
Best wishes to this positive crew!!!
PS: Mike, the problem I am having is the paradox of REGRET as I am trying to make new goals. I just anguish about all the opportunities I pissed away. I just hesitate to move forward. Any thoughts? Anyone?
Thank you!
OOPS, that was KEN not Kim. Sorry and thanks again ;>)

Thanks Mike it reminds me to keep looking ahead, and not to take the mental mud to seriously. It gives me foresight into my own future, now that you will pull yourself up out of the muck if you are grateful for each day and take the time to be grateful for the little things and what you have from this point on. Start each day as if it was your first, you right your own story.
How right we all have the power within to make that little change one bit at a time. I was once asked could you eat an elephant the answer is of course yes just one bit at a time. Give without expectation and you will receive back tenfold. Enjoy today.
Amazing that you seem to send exactly what helps on a regular basis.
Always great and inspirational receiving your daily messages.
Thanks.

Hi Mike
I think your articles are great.
Iam a 57 year old male looking for work and i am having a
hard time getting the confidence to sell my self,to many
negative thoughts. Can you suggest a new approach..

Mike,
Yes, I've already been practicing replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts. It's working in ways I would have never imagined.

MIKE, THANKS FOR THIS ONE! I AM TRULY WORKING ON NOT INVITING ANY NEGATIVITY IN MY LIFE. WITH ONE STEP AT A TIME, I AM SURROUNDING MYSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING SOMEWHERE AND SPEAKING LIFE GENERATING WORDS THAT WILL MOTIVATE ME.
I have found your sound motivational advice works on a physical plain as well. Next to money, time is the single biggest stressor for people. If you change 1% a day - stop just one procrastination tactic a day, or file away 1 piece of paper or statement a day, that's 365 a year. Who knows you may be motivated to do more - just imagine. Choose not to procrastinate - in 2008! I equally enjoy your readers comments too, Measurable progress in Reasonable time. Happy 2000 and GREAT!

Great Mike: I've been delving into James Allen lately, and repeatedly listen to 'As A Man Thinketh'. Your faithful input, at this time, and your 'right on' assessments are inspiring and infectious. Thank You
Hey Mike,
I'm grateful for your coaching. Your thoughts are inspiring and strength to me. You have been closer to me than my sister, always sharing the best I expect. I agree with that concept of Thinking creates what and who you become or "You are what you think".It's in the Holy Book of Proverbs. I've read it, seen and experience the reality in its context. No circumstances or situations - negative or positive- are created without first thinking. Thanks for sharing that piece of wisdom. I love that!

So true! In fact, I did the very same thing today! I've been unemployed 4 months, and have had a few interviews. The very job I want so badly, I checked out Craigslist today, only to find the ad posted again for this job I want! I'm in my mid 50's and it is very disheartening because many companies will not hire you. I just sat there and changed my mind that this was not going to ruin my day! I had a productive day, and I'm in a good mood! There is something better waiting in the horizon for me!!! I'm glad to see . . . it only takes one thought change per day! I can handle that!!!
Great stuff everyone. Thanks for the opportunity for growth Mike.
Regret has no place in our lives, I have been told that we didn't piss a way anything that we did the best we knew how at the time to bring us to our now point. Oh yes, you say Ya Ya, then it has been said that all our past mistakes or failures can be looked at like time we spent getting a higher education for what we are embarking on at the present time. I like education and there is always value for value. So when I look at the past and what I might have paid for that education it may even be a bargain. This helps me feel good about myself when I see things in this lite.
Hi Mike, thanks a heap for your great letters. Am not the same and each week i look forward to reading from you. i got a story below and thought it would encourage you and your readers.
"Dance Like Nobody's Watching" You are the best coach ever.
Jeff was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"
He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jeff was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jeff was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jeff and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
Jeff replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jeff, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life."
"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.
"Yes, it is," Jeff, said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."
I reflected on what Jeff said.
Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that Jeff did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers.
While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jeff was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center.
After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jeff was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.
I saw Jeff about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he said, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?"
I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jeff replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.
Jeff continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action."
"What did you do?" I asked.
"Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said
Jeff. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'"
Jeff lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

- Love like it's never going to hurt

Thank you for the information. I want to improve my why of thinking. My be it will help whit my dyslexia.
Mike, I've been listening to 'The Utimate Lifestyle Workshop' CD's to and from work, those along with your daily blog awe me with your enthusiasm. While working on a personal project I came across the following quote that in part answered the reason for your enthusiasm for me.
" Until you know that life is interesting---and you find it so---you haven't found you soul."
-Archbishop Geoffry Fish
I think you've found your soul.

***As a Person thinketh in his heart, so is he.
***Change your thoughts, change your life.
***We become what we think about.
For the last month or so, the above saying has been in my spirit. "As a person thinketh in his heart, so is he."
I find myself thinking postive thoughts to have a postive life.
We become what we think, whether we realize it or not.
Thanks for the confirmation and being a great mentor.
Everything begins from within.
